A short research hike:

From Old Sheffield Road across the terrain to the Escalante River -.
photographically a complete success.
I came across several Moki fields with 10,000s of these funny balls.
Duration about 5 hours, but only 6 mi and 600 ft. vertical.
The photos below have the GPS data in the Exif.

Directions

Hike south of Old Sheffield Road (OSR)
A hike across the terrain - for people who appreciate loneliness,
and would like to go off the beaten track
Trailhead is at the OSR, near the old Moqui Hill - accessible by normal car.
Length approx. 6 mi, duration approx. 5 hours with breaks and photo stops.

Approach:

From Escalante approx. 10 mi direction Boulder, after MP 70 turn right into OSR.
After about 6 mi turn left and park at the end (after about 0.5 mi).
From here only with GPS or at your own ideas.

GPS data:

Turn right from Hwy. 12 into OSR: N37°44'34,5" - W111°26'52,8".
Down into the valley:  N37°43'12,2" - W111°24'15,9"
Turn left from the OSR:  N37°42'50,7" - W111°22'48,7"
Parking at the end by:  N37°43'36,6" - W111°22'34,0"
Moving towards intermediate point 1: N37°44'33,5" - W111°21'55,4"
Continue towards intermediate point 2: N37°44'48,5" - W111°21'45,9"
Right out of the wash here: N37°44'59,5" - W111°21'52,4"
Continue towards intermediate point 3: N37°45'02,6" - W111°21'45,5"
Head for River Insight:  N37°45'23,2" - W111°21'31,1"
Continue towards Moki-Feld 1: N37°45'09,3" - W111°21'32,3"
Continue towards Slot Canyon: N37°44'54,3" - W111°21'17,5"
Continue towards Moki-Feld 2: N37°44'40,2" - W111°21'15,6"
Continue in direction Moki-Feld 3: N37°44'30,3" - W111°21'13,6"
Continue in direction Moki-Feld 4:  N37°44'12,2 - W111°21'14,4"
And back to the car: N37°43'36,6" - W111°22'34,0"
